HiSET® Language Arts - Reading

Increase your ability to understand, interpret, and analyze a broad range of literary and informational texts. Readings may be in the form of memoirs, essays, biographical sketches, editorials or poetry.

HiSET® Language Arts - Writing

Learn to edit and revise written text as well as generate and organize ideas in writing.  Review texts in the form of letters, essays, newspaper articles, personal accounts, and reports  and revise errors.  Additionally, learners focus on improving the development and organization of text, language facility and the use of writing conventions such as spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and grammar.

HiSET® Mathematics

Build on fundamental concepts and reasoning skills offered in practical problems requiring numerical operations, measurement, estimation, data interpretation, and logical thinking. Problems based on realistic situations help prepare participants to handle abstract concepts such as algebra, precision measurement, and probability.

HiSET® Science

Expand the ability to use science content knowledge, scientific inquiry, and interpretation and evaluation of scientific information. Dig into the process of discovery using scientific journals, graphs, tables, and charts. Evaluate the adequacy of procedures and distinguish among hypotheses, assumptions and observations. Topics include physics, chemistry, botany, zoology, health, and astronomy.

HiSET® Social Studies

Analyze and evaluate social studies information such as history, political science, psychology, sociology, anthropology, geography, and economics through the use of primary documents, posters, cartoons, timelines, maps, graphs, tables, charts, and written passages. Learn how to pick fact from opinion, recognize the limitations of procedures and methods, determine the reliability of sources, how valid conclusions are, and evaluate the adequacy of information for drawing conclusions.
