ABE (Adult Basic Education)

Courses are designed for adults who wish to improve basic reading, writing, or math skills.  We offer open Learning Labs where instructors work with students individually or in small groups.

High school credits may be awarded upon request.


 High School Completion/HiSET®

If you want to pursue a rewarding career or continue your education, then getting your high school credential is the most important step you can take. Colleges as well as many employers require one. The state of Maine has chosen the HISET® exam, the new alternative to the GED® test, to help you achieve this important state-issued high school equivalency credential. Test takers are encouraged to prepare for the HiSET exam. Washington County Adult Education and Axiom Education and Training Center offers Hi-SET® tutoring, test preparation, and testing

In the HiSET® exam your skills and knowledge are measured in five core areas:

Language Arts – Reading

Language Arts – Writing

Mathematics

Science

Social Studies

You must be at least 18 years of age to take the HiSET exam.

The HiSET exam is free for Maine residents. Proof of residency  is required.


 Maine College Transitions Program

A comprehensive program for adults who are studying to earn their high school degree or preparing to transition to college.  Counseling, mentoring and support services are provided to enable these adults to successfully transition to college and earn degrees.



 Work Ready

This practical work training program endorsed by local Maine businesses and employers is designed to provide the specific skills and requirements that employers look for in their current and future employees.
